In an earlier column I spoke of Filipino boxing champion Jerwin Ancajas’ strong jab, which is similar to Pacquiao’s. He is not arm punching, but putting his weight into the punch by driving off of his back foot.
On the street you could apply this by jabbing with something in your lead hand, like a bottle. Ancajas next ducks under the opponent’s counter hook–you can expect someone on the street to be swinging wildly at your head. Now he throws the left.
Throughout this entire sequence, Ancajas is at his opponent’s back, which is a very smart strategy for both the ring and the street.
