I’ve been following Dave’s career for several years now after I was privileged to meet him in Cebu City at the Abellana boxing gym.
The fight starts at 9:10.
Dave scores his first knockdown at 11:50. Twalib throws a right hand, which Dave slips to the outside. Normally moving into the quadrant of an opponent’s rear power hand is dangerous, but Twalib has extended himself to throw the right hand, leaving his ribs and liver exposed. Dave counters with a left hook into Twalib’s ribcage. Dave follows up with a right hook to the head as Twalib goes down.
At 12:30 you can see this knockdown in slow motion. Dave’s hook to the body grazed Twalib, otherwise it would have been game over at this point.
The KO is at 14:30, via a left hook to the liver. Dave had landed several body blows through the round, and although they may not look spectacular, body blows sap your will to live.
See it again in slo-mo at 15:45.
Dave’s record is now 14-0, with 10 KO’s.
